Data Methodology
How the data is collected, processed, and visualized.
Data Collection Approach
The data presented on this site comes from publicly available sources. If there is a simple data source for any visualization or analysis, I link to it directly and explain my reasoning for using that particular source.
This project focuses on simplifying complex global economic data to make patterns more visible and understandable, rather than providing exhaustive statistical detail.
Data Categories
The primary data categories used in this project include:
- GDP per capita (categorized in ranges to simplify visualization)
- Major exports by country (categorized into general sectors)
- Trade relationships between regions and countries
- Basic geographic information for visualization
Data Processing
To make the data more accessible for visualization and analysis, I apply the following processes:
- Categorization of countries by GDP ranges for color-coding
- Classification of exports into major categories (Agricultural, Mineral, Industrial, Energy, Services)
- Simplification of complex trade relationships into primary connections
- Normalization of country names and identifiers across different data sources
Note: This data is for personal analysis purposes. The methodology prioritizes pattern visibility over statistical precision, and the information should not be considered accurate for commercial, academic, or policy decisions.
